Research and Study
Kristine says:
I study subjects and products that might have bearing on reflexology because I want to understand how reflexology works in order to apply it more effectively. I am currently reviewing the following:
Theta
Thank you Theta Healing who sent me a junk email advertising courses. It made me realise that Facial Reflexology quickly induces the theta state, possible preparing the hippocampus to process incoming signals. This must be why clients respond so quickly to this treatment. The inclusion of my new unwinding techniques may help the body to appreciate the newly relaxed state and release of tension form the muscles and tissues. Nothing to do with "Theta Healing" though!
Acupressure points
Peta Trousdell and Houri held a charming workshop recently in Brighton on the interface between reflexology and acupressure points for the treatment of sub-fertility. I am finding the study of tsubo and marma points and meridians increasingly useful. Inge Dougans' book on the 5 elements and the meridians is clearly written on the subject although after 20 years I feel that reflexologists are working with neural pathways and fascia more than meridians. A combination of both, however, seems to be the way to go. I use mostly pressure points on the face opting for marmas rather than tsubos. There is no explanation for this as the points often correspond, its just that I am drawn more to the Indian philosophy than the Chinese!
Myofascial Meridians
Myofascial meridians describes an interlinked series of connected tracts of sinews and muscle; the collagenous net and surrounding tissue, the 'fibrous body' of the upright adult human. The most interesting area is the connection between the plantar fascia and the galea aponeurotica/scalp fascia - from the feet to the head. Also connections from the fingers to the 3rd to 5th ribs.

Special Senses - Eyes
My programme incorporates tsubo points G14, G1, Taiyang, B2 and others(face), Li14 (hands) and Liv 2 and 3 (feet) using reflexology and pressure point techniques; also a micropoint stimulator with a cotton wool bud for self-help. Curcumin is used as an anti-inflammatory and Serrapeptase and ReVision Formulation or VisionTone from Good Health Naturally for glaucoma, macular degeneration, floaters, cataracts, dry eyes and light sensitivity. I make no claims but uveitis has cleared after 4 years.
